Career Training & Job Placement

Increasing the employability skills of the people in our communities is one effective way to jump start significant change within our neighborhoods.  With unemployment rates creeping to an all-time high, crime-rates, poverty rates, and other social ills also increase and threaten our ability to sustain healthy communities for the future.

Christina-Alfrerdon Career Training and Job Placement (CACT) is a non-profit organization committed to changing the conditions of our communities…one life at a time.  We seek to inspire hope and opportunities through the specialized training and attentive curriculum we offer to those who have learning difficulties/disabilities, and those who seek to enhance their professional skills to be empowered to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.  Our 16-week course includes:

  1. Screening for the client’s learning needs
  2. An assessment of technical/non-technical skills, needs, and vision/hearing skills.
  3. Classroom instruction & work-based experience (job shadowing/internships)
  4. Assistance with job placement and retention follow-up.

This  program is scheduled to begin early January 2010, and will be offered on an ongoing basis.  The curriculum is unique, and the training caters to the individual needs of each client.  Our mission is to “set the captive free”…to help our clients look past the obstacles set before them and move forward by being equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, positive attitudes, opportunities, and support required to achieve success.
